The Little Red Hen
This week we listened to the story of 'The Little Red Hen'.
We have also learnt about celebrating 'harvest' and talked about the work that our local farmers have been doing.
We found lots of information!
We drew our first story map to retell the story of
'The Little Red Hen'. We wrote labels and used our 'Fred fingers' to record the sounds that we could hear in each word.
We retold the story using Makaton signs. Please click on the link to watch our film!
After listening to the story, of course we had to make our own bread. We really enjoyed working with Mrs T, mixing the ingredients, kneading the dough and washing up too!
Thank you Mrs T!
We also watched Auntie Mabel on 'Come Outside - Bread' and learnt about how bread is made. Please click on the following link to watch it again at home:
We made our own paper plate Little Red Hen, showing good cutting and sticking skills.
We had fun pretending to be farmers collecting the harvest and looking after the farm animals.
We worked together to build tractors in our outside classroom.
We enjoyed working in our Farm Shop role play area - we were very good at milking the cow!
In maths, we were farmers collecting apples from the trees. We had to pick red apples and green apples and count 'how many altogether'.
We also ordered different sized vegetables.
We looked very carefully at the pattern, line, shape and form of interesting fruit and vegetables.
Look at our fantastic observational drawings! They are wonderful!
Thank you for taking the time to look at our work!
Why not ask grandparents, aunts and uncles to take a look too?
