From Caterpillar to Butterfly

Releasing our Butterflies!

We have really enjoyed watching our caterpillars grow and change into chrysalis. We have talked about what has happened during each stage of development and learnt so much!

Today was the day to release them into our school meadow.
We were very excited!

Good-bye butterflies!

Last week some of our rainbow children went out and about hunting for mini beasts with Mrs O'Boyle.  They found lots of exciting things and couldn't wait to come back and tell us all about it.

On Safari

A Safari Adventure!

We've had a busy week being Safari Explorers.
We hope you enjoy the photos of some of our learning from this week.

We built aeroplanes to travel to Africa so we could go on a safari adventure.

We created our own safari maps using the small world kit.

We used tap-tap shapes to create safari animals. We then made them using 2D shapes.
Can you guess which animals we made?

We also used a drawing app to draw safari animals on our I-pads.

Cooling down!

We were so hot this afternoon Mrs Jarrett decided to cool us down by spraying us with the hose pipe! It was sooo much fun!

A Sunny Morning

We have had a wonderful morning in the sun today! We have had our water pump and our water world out! They have had such a giggle filling up the water butt and making different water paths! AMAZING FUN (if not a little bit wet!)

Look at these mucky boys...guess where they have been!

Growing at home

Emma has been really busy at home growing potatoes, strawberries, tomatoes and lots of herbs!  You have been busy!

Thank you to Emma's Daddy for sending in the photo.

Sports Day

Well, what a wonderful afternoon we have had.  I think you'll agree, that sports day was a huge success!  The children all worked really hard and gave 100% to each race they participated in, there were also lots of laughs and smiles along the way.
Thank you to everyone who came to support us, we really appreciate it and hope you had just as much fun as we all did.

Caitlin's adventures

I love to see all the fantastic things you have been getting up, Caitlin's Daddy sent some pictures this week of her skiing adventures.
It looks wonderful, thank you for sharing Caitlin.

Growing veggies!

We are so excited that the vegetables we planted a few weeks ago have started to grow.  The onions, radishes and carrots are growing really nicely; we can't wait till we can pick them!

Have you seen our strawberries? Don't they look fantastic, we can't wait to eat them!

We had some lovely photos emailed from Jake's Mummy to show us some of the yummy strawberries they have been growing at home.

Does anyone else grow vegetables at home?  I would love to see some photos if you do.

In the Garden

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We have a had a great week based on one of our favourite stories
'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

We have made story maps, diaries and looked at the life cycle of a butterfly.
We have also explored symmetry in lots of different ways:

We are very proud of the children who continued their learning at home. Brilliant!

We are SO excited, as we have our very own caterpillars!
We are going to observe how they grow and change.
EXCITING!!!

We are also very lucky, as Max brought a dragonfly in to school to show us.
It was perfectly preserved and we were amazed at how delicate it was. It was beautiful!

Thank you to Max and his family.

Lincolnshire day!

On the last day of term, we celebrated Lincolnshire Day. We had lots of activities involving the RAF, Lincoln Castle and Cathedral, Lincoln City Football Team and our story, The Lincolnshire Puppy.

We had the opportunity to have our photo taken with the amazing Vanarama National League Cup. The children were very excited and couldn’t believe how big it was! It was very special for Fosse Way Academy to receive the cup for the day because it was won by our local team – Lincoln City Football Club!

Kids in Space!

The children really enjoyed our space topic, they couldn’t stop talking about it! We learned all about the different planets in our solar system and why poor Pluto isn’t a planet anymore. We investigated what life was like in space too. Did you know that astronauts swallow their tooth paste? And they never wash their shampoo out!
