An emergency rocks Nursery!

There was a disaster in Nursery this morning, Mrs Mabbott and several children were struck down with a hideous illness and we had to set up a hospital to make them better!

Gingerbread men

We had a great time reading and learning all about the the Gingerbread Man.  One of our favourite things to do was making gingerbread men.  They were delicious!!

Can you spot yours?

Swimming superstars!

We have 2 more swimming superstars to celebrate today!

Isaac was so proud to bring his swimming badge into Nursery. He told us all about how he swims with a green woggle and even gave us a demonstration of what he does with his arms!

Jude was equally as proud and told us how he had to swim across the pool and back again with nothing on!!

Well done boys!

Red Nose Day!

Red Nose Day 2017
We wore our red noses, told jokes and bought cakes to help raise money for children who aren’t as lucky as us.

They Lived Happily Ever After...

You are invited to the wedding of
Cinderella and Prince Charming

Today we celebrated the end of our traditional tales topic. All week we have been preparing for Cinderella’s wedding banquet -
we have made tiaras, watches and button holes.
Food is a main part of a wedding - we had homemade jelly, ice cream, fizzy water and fairy cakes in the sunshine.

We had a great time raising funds for Red Nose Day.

We bought cakes to eat at playtime - there were so many, that we had one during the afternoon too!

The Magic Porridge Pot

Super Hero Emergency Call Centre

After reading The Magic Porridge Pot, we thought about how to stop the porridge from filling the town. We created contraptions to dig, sweep, blow and suck up the porridge. We also made our own magic pot. We used the play dough to make a coil pot and then thought about what else might come out of the pot.

We made story maps but had to change part of the story. We had to think of something else to magically cook in the pot. We had some fantastic ideas such as popcorn, sweets, custard, flowers, chocolate and even bricks. We then talked about how to stop the magic pot from cooking, and about how Super Heroes could help to save the town.

We also had a fantastic time in our Super Hero Call Centre. We answered emergency phone calls, filled in incident reports and made super hero passports.

In maths this week, we have been busy ordering random numbers.

Also in maths we used 1p and 10p coins to make a range of two digit numbers. Fantastic!

What a busy week!

Science Day

Our children really enjoyed our Science Day. As part of 'British Science Week', we spent an afternoon investigating this year's theme - changes.

After reading Mr Wolf's Pancakes, we observed how food might change before we eat it.

We tried to answer these questions:

  • What happens to ice cream and chocolate when it warms up?
  • Where does sugar go when you up lemon juice on?
  • Can you put a banana back to normal when it has been mashed?

We also designed our favourite pancakes!

The Magic Porridge Pot

Last week, our class story was The Magic Porridge Pot. It was a story about a pot that could make endless amounts of porridge. All you had to do was say the magic words and it would start, then say more magic words to make it stop. In the story, they forgot the words to make it stop and porridge went all over the town. They needed a super hero to help clean it up!

We followed instructions to make our own porridge pots with play dough and had a go at building the town from the story.

We even became super heroes and made up secret identities!
