Journey to the moon!


During an ordinary Wednesday afternoon some children decided they wanted to take an extraordinary journey to the moon! But how will we get there and what will we need! A rocket of course “and don't forget the space helmets!” Reminded Harry.
So before our adventure could begin we needed to make our space helmets! We gathered card and tape and scissors and set to work making some wonderful space helmets.
Space helmets sorted now on to the big job...making the rocket! The intrepid space explorers worked together to build a big rocket. Talking to each other about what they were doing and which colour block needed to go where.
Matilda “ put the blue one next to the yellow”
“My seats going to be yellow” Isla commented as they started to make their own seats. With the finishing touches made to the rocket it was time to don our space helmets (aka our cut up cereal boxes!) ready for take-off!!

The journey started off bumpy, swaying us this way and that, up and down we went but oh no...
“Stop! I need to go back, I've forgotten my phone!” Jake exclaimed mid-way into the journey.  They turned the rocket ship quickly home for Jake to pick up his phone “phew got it, we can go back now!”
A little while later they arrived on the moon and ventured out of their rocket! They moved slowly and purposefully around taking big slow giant steps
“This is hard work” huffed Matilda out of breath!

They all decided to climb back into the colourful rocket where Jake exclaimed “let's go to Jupiter next”

  1. Jake has taken a real interest in the planets and space recently. I love how he had to go back for his phone!
