Mrs Dodge - At the Seaside (week 1)

 At the Seaside

This week in Literacy we were writing about what we would be able to see in a rock pool, made tickets to go on some rides and thought about the activities we can do at the seaside so we could make a leaflet.

In Numeracy we have been counting groups of objects (in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s), partitioning numbers using our cups and saucers, totalling up our scores for a beanbag game and recognising two digit numbers while playing bingo.

In the afternoons we designed our own seaside towns. We had to make a 3D map and label a 2D map. We enjoyed buying ice cream from our van and played in the sand. We also loved making our own sea creatures using cutting and sticking.

We have loved the challenge in the sandpit this week. We had to learn how to make a sandcastle.

We have been looking at an artist called Paul Klee. We looked at one of his pieces of art work. We thought about what we could see and what he used to make the pictures. We had a go at using 2D shapes to make our own version of the artwork.

Take a look at our caterpillars this week... they have started to hang!

Nursery - On the farm

 Over the next couple of weeks, we will be exploring life on a farm.

The children will visit the farm shop and talk about where their food has come from

They will work on numbers 1-5 in the tuff tray using the diggers to move the stones, sticks and sand

Duplo farm

At the play dough table, the children need to make enclosures so that the animals can't escape

Outside in the mud kitchen, we're cutting up rosemary to add to our delicious meals

We have made a dinosaur home using leaves and branches we chopped down in the nursery classroom

We are continuing to look after the babies, thinking about what they need to be happy
