Class RBingham - Celebrating Autumn

 Celebrating Autumn

This week we have been learning about 'Autumn'.

We thought about what 'autumn' means to us. We used our 'Fred fingers' to spell each word.

We have enjoyed listening to 'Percy the Park Keeper' stories by Nick Butterworth. Our favourite was 'After the Storm' because Percy helped his friends find a new home.

We enjoyed working in our Percy the Park Keeper role play area, where we helped build a new home for Percy's friends, read books in Percy's hut and explored a range of gardening tools, soil, seeds and plant pots.

We used books to help draw some hibernating and nocturnal animals.
We used the drawing app on our IPads.
What does 'hibernating' mean?
What does 'nocturnal' mean?

We used leaf shaped sponges and autumnal coloured paints to create repeating patterns.

We used wax crayons to make autumn leaf rubbings. We had to use the side of the crayon. We could see the veins on the leaves.

We made observational drawings of autumn leaves, looking carefully at the lines, shapes and patterns.

We used natural materials to create repeat patterns in our outside classroom.

We also had fun making numbers using the natural materials.

We helped Percy the Park Keeper by making climbing frames for his playground.
Our challenge was to only use 5 cubes.
Look at all of the different arrangements we made!

We thought about what Percy might need in his playground. We used our 'Fred fingers' to write each label.

We explored the concept of subtraction.
The autumn wind blew conkers of the tree. How many were left on the tree?

We used natural materials to work in the style of artists Andy Goldsworthy and James Brunt.
We are very proud of our art work!

We hope you have enjoyed learning about our busy week at school.
