Class RBingham - Celebrating Diwali

 Celebrating Diwali

This week we have been learning about
'Diwali - The Festival of Light'.

We read a story about Rama and Sita.

We retold the story using masks, puppets and props.

We made diva lamps using playdough, beads and sequins.

We worked together to build a throne for Prince Rama and Princess Sita.

Syon celebrated Diwali with his family at the weekend. He talked to all of us, and shared some wonderful photos, which was really informative and helpful! Thank you Syon!

We watched 'CBeebies Let's Celebrate Diwali' to find out how Hindus celebrate Diwali. Click on the link to watch it at home too:

After watching 'Let's Celebrate Diwali', we recalled facts that we had learnt and wrote about them:

We prepared our house for the Diwali celebration!

We made wonderful rangoli patterns using coloured stones and sequins.

We also made rangoli patterns using Numicon...
...and 2D shapes too!

We created mehndi patterns for our hands.

We ordered numbered diva lamps and also worked on finding '1 more'.

We also had a fantastic time at our own Diwali celebration. We tried a variety of indian foods such as pilau rice, naan bread, poppadoms, onion bhajis, vegetable pakoras, vegetable samosas, mango chutney and raita.

What a feast!!!

We've had a wonderful week learning all about Diwali.
