Autumn Learning - Mrs Dodge

 Autumn

We loved going on an Autumn walk around the field and meadow. We found the hedgehog home for the hedgehog in our outside classroom. We saw trees with leaves and trees without leaves. We saw lots of leaves changing colour or on the floor. We stayed away from the red and yellow berries and even found some evergreen trees that will always be green. We used our sense of smell to smell the rosemary and lavender we found.

In Literacy we have been writing about what Autumn means to us.

We have been learning from Percy the Park Keeper. We have looked at his job and what he does to look after the park and animals. We have designed a new play park for him.

We have also designed play equipment for Percy, only using 5 cubes...

We have looked at Andy Goldsworthy and his use of natural materials in his art work.
We used our own natural objects to make our own works of art.

We have really enjoyed practising planting in our Percy the Park Keeper hut.

In numeracy, we have used conkers falling off a tree to help us understand subtraction and had a go at writing the number sentences to match it.

We have also made repeating patterns with natural objects and made the numbers on a number line too...
