Little Red Riding Hood
This week's traditional story was Little Red Riding Hood.
We acted out the story in our role play area and our outside classroom. We also used puppets and made short videos of our favourite parts of the story.
We also made a sandwich to take to Little Red Riding Hood's Grandma, as she was poorly. We chose our favourite filling and made the sandwich by ourselves. We obviously had to taste the sandwich first, before taking it to Grandma's cottage! Delicious!
We also had fun making routes, giving and following directions and using positional language (so that we didn't get lost in the woods).
We used construction kits to make Little Red Riding Hood's house and Grandma's cottage, and we also made furniture for Grandma's cottage too.
We didn't want Little Red Riding Hood to be late so we made cut and stick clocks and used magnetic numbers to make a clock face. Soon we will use them to tell the time using o'clock and half past.
We have enjoyed sharing lots of different versions of Little Red Riding Hood, including one about the wolf, who said it wasn't his fault for locking Grandma in the wardrobe and then trying to eat Little Red Riding Hood. Some of us felt sorry for the wolf but some of us didn't. We talked lots about the wolf's character, which led to us discussing 'stranger danger'. The children learnt a positive lesson in keeping safe.
Wishing you all a lovely half term!
