How many Billy Goats were there?
What story did we have last week that had the number 3 in it?
How are the Billy Goats different?
Why is the troll mean?
What does the troll look like?
Encourage your child to join in with the refrain - 'Who's that trip trapping over my bridge?'
Can you draw the troll? Make him look mean and scary!
MATHEMATICS
We will use positional language - on, in, above, below, inside, outside, next to, beside, under. We will ask the children to put their toys, 'next to a box', 'under the table', 'on the chair', etc.
We will then put toys around the nursery and ask the children to tell us where these items are, noting the language used.
EAD
Can you make a bridge over the river for the three billy goats? You could use all kinds of things to make the bridge - construction, sticks, spaghetti, tubes, bricks, etc.
FINGER GYM
We will be tracing over lines and patterns this week. We will draw felt tip lines for the children to draw over, encouraging a good pencil grip.
ONGOING ACTIVITIES
Counting forwards and backwards to 10
Using Numberblocks on CBeebies - singing along with the 1 song, 2 song, 3 song, 4 song, etc.
Practising the recognition of our name and also trying to write some of the letters
We will be encouraging independence when putting on coats, hats, scarfs and gloves
WELL BEING ACTIVITY
We will be working on the importance of 'praise' this week. One of the strands on the EY curriculum is the child 'welcoming and valuing praise'.
By using praise, we’re showing the children how to think and talk positively about themselves. We’re helping them learn how to recognise when they do well and feel proud of themselves.
We are clear as to why we are praising the child. For example, ‘I like the way you’ve found a spot for everything in your room,' helps them understand exactly what it is that they’ve done well.
We have managed to make phone calls to the majority of parents who are not currently in school. These numbers will generally come up as Withheld number. If we haven't managed to speak to you and you would like a word, please phone the school or email me and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Stay safe.
