RBingham - The Jolly Postman

The Jolly Postman

This week's story has brought together several traditional stories:

We have drawn and labelled a story map to sequence the Jolly Postman's journey. We have also been learning about what happens in a Post Office. We enjoyed watching 'Come Outside: A Letter', showing the journey of a letter.

In our outside classroom, we set up a Post Office role play area and weighed a variety of different sized parcels. We had to work as Teamwork Toucans to order them from lightest to heaviest.

We had fun working in pairs trying to wrap a present.
It was much harder than we thought it would be!

We have also been reinforcing our knowledge of odd and even numbers. We had to help the Jolly Postman by sorting the door numbers on each side of the road. Also, we sorted the numbered envelopes into odd and even postboxes.

In our outside classroom, we have also been posting numbered letters to each door.

We made some wrapping paper for our Post Office. We had to make repeating patterns using an ABB or AAB pattern.

Some other stories about Post Offices, letters and writing postcards that we have enjoyed this week are:

We have really enjoyed all of the traditional stories this term.

Next week we will learn about Spring and Easter.
