RBingham - The Enormous Turnip

The Enormous Turnip.

This week's traditional story has been
 'The Enormous Turnip'.

In Literacy, we have been busy drawing and labelling story maps to retell the story, writing instructions to plant seeds and also drawing and labelling parts of a plant.
We are very proud of our sounding out skills.

Our role play has been a garden centre this week and we have enjoyed exploring different roles.

We went to the school allotment with Mrs B and began weeding our plot, ready to plant some seeds!
What lovely weather we have had this week!

We were very excited to draw some beautiful flowers. Our observational skills have improved immensely and we were very proud of our drawings!

Some of us have built contraptions to help get the Enormous Turnip out of the ground.

In Maths, we have been sequencing the story characters using ordinal numbers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc.
We have also been thinking about the concept of time: we have been using clocks to make o'clock times and we explored how long a minute is. We did lots of different activities in 1 minute.

Some other versions of the story which we have enjoyed are 'Mr Wolf and the Enormous Turnip' and 'The Gigantic Turnip'. We particularly enjoyed the story with Mr Wolf!
