Celebrating Harvest
The Little Red Hen
This week our work has been linked to the story of The Little Red Hen.
After listening to the story, we each drew a story map to retell the story, using pictures and labels. Then afterwards, we watched a man called Pie Corbett, who used actions to retell the story. We used Pie's actions and masks to act out the story.
In the afternoons this week, we have made bread, just like the Little Red Hen.
It was delicious!
In Maths, we ordered different sized vegetables, using a repeated phrase from Numberblocks: 'I'm bigger than you, I'm smaller than you, Diddley Diddley Do!'. This helped us to order the vegetables from smallest to largest.
We also found lots of ways of making a total of 10 apples on two trees.
We also enjoyed making our own Little Red Hen from a paper plate, developing our cutting and sticking skills.
We have enjoyed exploring the farm set, sorting the animals and machinery. We made labels using post-it notes and our 'sound button fingers'.
Our role play has been a farm shop this week. We were able to make shopping lists, buy fruit and vegetables, drive a tractor and even milk a cow!
We have learnt lots about harvest and farming this week. We can also tell you where some of our food comes from (not just from a shop).
Auntie Mabel from 'Come Outside' also showed us where bread comes from.
Well done for working so hard this week!
