Diwali
The Festival of Light
This week, we have been busy learning about how Hindus celebrate Diwali - The Festival of Light.
We wrote about how Diwali is celebrated.

After listening to the Diwali story of Rama and Sita, we used puppets, props and masks to retell the story in lots of different ways.
We also used our large construction kit to build thrones for Rama and Sita.
In our role play house, we had to get ready for the celebration by cleaning everywhere! Then we put up decorations.
We made diva lamps using our playdough.
We are very proud of our Rangoli patterns, which we made using 2D shapes and also with coloured stones and sequins.
Best of all, we had our own Diwali Party, where we tasted a variety of Indian foods, such as rice, vegetable pakoras, vegetable samosas, onion bhajis, naan bread and poppadoms.
At home, you might enjoy watching CBeebies 'Let's Celebrate - Diwali'. Our class certainly learnt lots of information and could answer lots of questions about celebrating Diwali.
