Last week we were exploring what happens at
harvest time. We learnt about the good that our Harvest Festival does and where
the food the children brought in has gone. We also looked at the busy life of a
farmer at this time of year and followed instructions to bake some yummy
bread. Well done children, you've had a really busy week!
Here are some of their observational drawings of
apples and pears.
Here the children are starting to use money. They
have chosen a piece of food to buy, read the price tag and counted out the
correct number of pennies. When they took it to the shop keeper, the shop
keeper counted the pennies to check if they had enough to buy the food.
The children have loved practising weighing,
measuring, kneading and baking their own bread.
Outside the children decided to build a tractor,
they worked together with a bit of help from a grown up and made a fantastic
tractor!
All week we have been finding different ways of
splitting up 5 and 10 apples between two trees. We found that there were lots
of different ways of making these numbers.
Here are some of the other things the children
have been up to; number formation, matching quantities and playing harvest
games.
