RBingham - Exploring The Farm

 Exploring The Farm

This week we have enjoyed exploring life on the farm.
We have been finding out lots of interesting facts about farm animals, developing our vocabulary and language skills.
We wrote sentences (with finger spaces) to record these fabulous facts!
  • Did you know that chickens don't have any teeth?
  • Did you know that pigs are very clever? (smarter than dogs!)
  • Did you know that chickens' eggs take 21 days to hatch?
  • Did you know that cows have four stomachs?
We also talked about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores!!! AMAZING!

We have also been busy using our senses to write sentences about what we might see, hear, smell, taste and touch on a farm.

Also lots of other activities such as:

...sharing carrots between farm animals

...using an app called SKITCH to take a photo of a farm animal and make labels

...sorting numbered animals into odd and even fields (using Numicon to help us)

...exploring the farm set

...buying products from our farm shop role play area, and partitioning the price tag into tens and ones using 10p and 1p coins and also our tens and ones (with cups and saucers)

...exploring different roles in our farm shop role play area

...making cut and stick chicks

...working together to build a tractor in our outside classroom

Our favourite storytime book this week has been:

Did you know that cows can lay eggs???!!!!
