RBingham - Celebrating Easter and Springtime

This week we have been celebrating
Easter and Spring.
We listened to a story about Easter and found out about why we celebrate Easter.

During this short week, we have been busy doing lots of Easter and Spring related activities such as:
  • sequencing the Easter story
  • going on an Easter Egg Hunt to collect letters to spell a secret message
  • exploring the concept of symmetry and making symmetrical patterns on egg shapes
  • becoming confident to double numbers to 10 and beyond
  • making Spring posters
  • decorating Easter Eggs
  • using our senses to describe Spring
  • sequencing the life cycle of a hen

We also enjoyed listening to these stories:

We wish you a wonderful Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you all in just over two weeks time!
Don't forget, we start PE after the holiday -
Class RBingham's PE day will be Tuesday.

Take care of yourselves.  xxx

Mrs Dodge - Spring and Easter

Spring and Easter

Over the last 3 days we have focused our learning on Spring and Easter. We have listened to the Easter story and now understand why Christians celebrate it. We have designed Easter eggs with symmetrical patterns, ordered eggs with numbers, made egg repeating patterns and been on an Easter egg hunt.

We have been on a Spring walk to look for signs of spring. We thought about our senses and what we can see, hear, smell and taste at Spring time. We have learnt about the life cycle of a hen, but I wonder what came first!?

Take a look at our learning...

NURSERY

We have been very busy over the past few days in Nursery. Having read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, we talked about what seeds and plants need to grow big and strong. We have all planted a sunflower which is coming home over the next couple of days. We would really love it if you looked after the seed and kept checking for signs of growth. Photographs of the growing sunflower would be much appreciated!

We have also been busy developing our fine motor skills with Finger Gym.

As you can see we have been threading, screwing nuts and bolts, placing buttons and even trying to unlock padlocks!

RBingham - The Gingerbread Man

 The Gingerbread Man

Our Traditional Story this week has been 'The Gingerbread Man'.

We have been very busy with lots of activities such as:
  • baking gingerbread biscuits
  • using our story maps to retell the story to our friends
  • using a gingerbread man bar model to investigate number bonds to ten and recording as part-part-whole
  • using positional language to describe where the gingerbread man was hiding
  • making obstacle courses using action cards to add movement

We have also enjoyed reading different versions of the story:

We hope you have enjoyed learning about our week at school!
