The Little Red Hen
We have LOVED our planning for The Little Red Hen! The hen in the story got to make bread and so did we. We had to sieve the flour, mix in the sugar, salt, yeast, and then add water. We enjoyed kneading our dough to wake the yeast up! We made the shapes for our bread. Mrs Dodge then cooked it for us. It was very yummy!
As we were linking our learning to Harvest, we looked at some fruit and vegetables that we buy. We did some observational drawings of them. We had to look closely at the details on the objects.
We played with our farm because The Little Red Hen lived on a farm...
We had to count out the right number for a pretend recipe...
We ordered the fruit and vegetables according to size...
We have enjoyed making shopping lists and using pennies to buy things in our Farm Shop role play.
We learnt The Little Red Hen off by heart and with actions. We then had to order the story and label what the hen was doing...
In the Outside Classroom, we pretended to harvest the wheat with combine harvesters...
