Winter

We are continuing the theme of Winter this week.

The role play has been turned into a garage and workshop as the cars haven't been starting on these cold and frosty mornings. The children have been using screwdrivers, pumps and hammers in order to fix the car and send it on its way! They have also been investigating magnets and quickly realised that the magnets picked up the screws, bolts and even some of the coins from the till!

Following on from the story of Jack Frost, the children made their own frozen land and then retold the story using puppets. Some of the children made skis and slid around the nursery floor!

The children then decided to sellotape lollipop sticks to the dolls so they could ski down the ramps.

We have been busy at the loose parts tray making frozen lands and snowflakes. Some brilliant nip, nip and careful fine motor skills.

The doll's house had a layer of snow, so we had to make sure that the family were nice and warm and tucked up inside.

Other activities included counting buttons onto snowmen and placing snowballs into Numicon. We also worked on holding and using scissors carefully and made some beautiful cut and stick snowflakes.
