Cleaning teeth!

After reading Titus' Troublesome Tooth yesterday we decided we would look at how to look after our teeth as the children were fascinated! We talked about the dentist and how we keep our teeth clean. 

Some children then decided to practise brushing a giant set of teeth! Great skills everyone, they showed good control putting the toothpaste on their brushes and then brushing them! 

No wonder you all have such sparkly teeth!

Nuts and Bolts

Today, some children have had a wonderful time exploring some new nuts and bolts. They had to concentrate really hard as it was quite tricky to thread the bolts on!
I was so impressed with how well everyone did, those fingers are getting stronger by the day!

Path building!

Look at the fun we are having using our tyres and planks.  The tyres and planks were kindly donated last year and we are having so much fun making different paths out of them.  It was a little tricky to walk on some of them as they were a little wobbly so we had to really concentrate! 




Cardboard rocket!

To set the scene the carpet area was full of children using their imagination and going on wonderful adventures all prompted by a cardboard box!

All involved were climbing in their amazing cardboard space rocket!!

Astronaut Ellis- “bye love you”
“Bye, have a good time” replied Elijah.
“We’re going to a moon party.”
With his purpose built steering wheel Harry drives the space rocket, leaning this way and that to manoeuvre around the planets, making some wonderful sound effects as he goes! Astronaut Harry feeling a little peckish decided he would like some crisps,
“Emily you need to get them from the shop”
“Ok, I'll get them from the shop” Emily kindly offered.
Ellis, Emily and Harry get lots of food (popoids) and pack them into the rocket.
Meanwhile our third Harry uses one of the popoids to make a telescope, he gazes into the atmosphere. I wonder what he could see? Maybe the moon is coming closer.
Another astronaut ( Isaac) got everyone prepared for lift off “ready, steady, blast off!”
However they encountered a problem, the rocket was too small! Tommy, Ellis, Preston and Emily soon rectified this! They got chairs and extended the rocket...great idea!
Now they could depart…
“1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10” they all count!
It's time to go, before you know it they have all landed on the moon, take out their ice lollies and quietly eat!

A big discussion then ensues, the most favourite flavour! Chocolate was decided the best, but what's yours?

On a windy Autumn afternoon as the sun began to shine green group jumped into the sand and decided to build a bridge. We all worked together with the large spades to dig a hole.
As they all began to dig Summer shouted
“It's too hard”
Harry caught a moth in his hands and stated
“I have found a butterfly, I am going to let it fly”
Quietly Ola found a small bucket and spade and began to fill it to the top.
“Look Mrs Mabbott” she said.
Elijah picked up the long handed scoop and said
“I am going to use the scoop.”

Happily Harry took on the role of manager and began to help and organise the group. Joseph stated,
“Mrs Mabbott I am making a cake for you.”
He was placing the sand into a sand mixer toy and carefully using the handle to mix the sand.
“What you doing?” Cameron asked.
“Putting in the hole” Freddie announced.
“Can someone help me….Can someone help me”
Harry asked repeatedly
“I will” Freddie responded.
Elijah and Freddie joined Harry and began to dig a hole. Harry gave Elijah a large spade and watched him dig.

Meanwhile Esme, Georgia and Ola observed from a distance and then decided to design their own masterpiece. Each took a different approach, Ola used a small spade and began to dig quickly whilst Esme and Georgia picked up the large spades, Esme used her feet and body weight whilst Georgia chose to sit down and scrape the sand. Tomasso soon came over to take a look.“Your ruining it” Esme told Tomasso as he stepped on the edge of her hole, then Georgia shouted to Esme
“Do it in the middle.”
Harry came  running to rescue the girls
“Can I help?”
Freddie followed Harry and replied“You can, everybody can help.” Soon they were all helping repair the hole.
Elijah shouts
“Tomasso, but….but...but it needs to be in the sand.”
Georgia continued to work determined to dig the biggest hole. Ola pulled out a stone and excitedly said
“Look Mrs Mabbott it's gone, look it's a stone.”
Eventually their holes look like holes! Joseph's was so big he decided to sit in it. As Summer and Elijah laughed they worked as a team to carry a plank to make a bridge. Cameron decided he was making a different bridge, he picked up the brick roller.
“I am making a line.”
Cameron's line came close to Georgia's masterpiece so she exclaimed
“No! Cameron it's doing my hole”
“We can share” Cameron replied.
All of a sudden Elijah came running,
“I found a rock.”
“It's cold” Alice claimed
“It's from the sea” Harry told the group then clarified
“It's actually from the Ocean.” Freddie then added
“It's from the beach.”
Finally we all tested out our bridges and like a Troll waiting for the Trip Trap of the goats feet Tomasso sat in the largest hole underneath the plank of wood.



From tree to tummy!

This week we have used some of the apples on our very own tree to make some delicious apple crumble!

We picked the apples from the big tree, we had to use sticks to knock the apples off because we couldn't reach!
Once we had to the apples we had to peel and chop them and then cook them...they smelt delicious!!
Then it was time to make the crumble, we measured out the flour and butter and rubbed it together.  We all practiced the action, after stirring in the sugar it was time to put it all together! 

After it had been in the oven it was time to taste it, we even had some ice cream with it!  It was delicious and Mrs Jarrett was really proud of everyone for trying it, even when they weren't sure if they would like it!
