RMcCabe - School trip to Woodside

We had a great time at Woodside Wildlife Park. When we arrived at the park, we ate our snack then we met our ranger who would show us around for the day. We saw lots of different animals; Polly the parrot, giant tortoises, crocodiles, lemurs, red pandas, tropical fish, marmosets, stalks, wolves, tigers and more!

We really enjoyed watching the wolves eat their dinner. The keepers threw big lumps of chicken over the fence and the hungry wolves raced to be the first to catch the meat.

Soon it was time for the Amazing Animal Show. The first animal was a sneaky fox who stole egg mayonnaise out of a bin on stage! There were lots of clever animals including a kookaburra (who practised stunning a plastic snake) a barn owl (who flew carefully over everyone's heads) and a mischief of rats who balanced along a rope.

Afterwards, we were hungry so we went to eat our lunch. After lunch we all moved to the tiger enclosure to watch her have her lunch. She really enjoyed her juicy meat!

Finally, we all had the opportunity to meet two calm royal pythons called Stanley and Charlie and a blue tongued skink, who kept flicking his tongue at the children! Most of the children enjoyed feeling either the snakes or the skink and some were brave enough to stroke both. We all agreed they felt smooth and hard.

After all that excitement, it was time to get back on the bus and return to Fosse Way. Thank you to everyone who helped on the trip, what a great day out!
