RBingham - Celebrating Easter and Spring

Easter and Spring

This week we have been looking for signs of spring and also celebrating the Christian festival Easter. We read the Easter story and learned that Easter isn't just about Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny.

We also watched 'CBeebies Let's Celebrate Easter' and learned how Easter is celebrated.

In maths, we have explored the concept of symmetry using an egg shape and coloured counters, and, in our outside classroom, we used a range of resources to show symmetrical patterns.
Can you see the line of symmetry?
Can you tell a grown-up what 'symmetrical' means?

We really enjoyed our Easter egg hunt in our outside classroom. We had to find all of the numbers to spell out a secret code! Did you manage to crack the code?

We are becoming more confident to show doubles! This week we used eggs and 2 baskets to help us. Some of us were able to show doubles to 20 and were able to explain how to add the tens and the ones! Super work!

We are also becoming much more confident to find totals of 10. We enjoyed using our Easter egg basket bar model and then recorded our working on whiteboards.

Here is another book which we have enjoyed sharing this week:

We also watched 'Come Outside - Geese' and
'Come Outside - Eggs'.

We hope that you all have a wonderful Easter holiday!
Try to get plenty of rest, but remember to try to do some reading, writing and number work AND eat plenty of chocolate Easter eggs!!!
Happy Easter!
