Mrs Dodge- Diwali

Diwali

We have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light.
We enjoyed tasting some Indian food...
We used playdough and sequins to make a diva lamp, cleaned the house ready for Diwali and ordered numbers on Diva lamps...

We talked about how rangoli patterns wish people good luck. We used the 2D shapes to make our own rangoli patterns. We also listened to the story of Rama and Sita. We made a throne for Prince Rama to sit on...

Children in Need 2019

Children in Need 2019
We dressed in our sports gear and exercised with Joe Wicks.
We had to run on the spot, do star jumps, lunge and stretch. Absolutely exhausting!!

We then had a delicious slice of Pudsey cake.

Jack Frost

This week we started to look at Winter. Luckily we had some wonderful wintry weather and Jack Frost came calling!

Look at our ice flowers!

We read the story Here Comes Jack Frost by Kazuno Kohara and then drew Jack Frost and created icy pictures at the cut and stick table.

We have been threading icicles onto trees, counting buttons onto snowmens' coats and making playdough snowmen.

Mrs Dodge- Autumn work

Autumn

We have been learning about 'Autumn' through Percy The Park Keeper.
We have enjoyed digging, planting and watering in the role play. We have worked as a team to make a number line using natural resources and a repeating pattern with them too.
We have practised colour mixing to make Autumn colours...

We have looked at the Art sculptures by Andy Goldsworthy. He makes sculptures from natural objects. We used our autumn resources to make our own version...
