RMcCabe - Up and Up

This week in our ‘How Will We Get There?’ topic we have been thinking about adventures in hot air balloons.

·    What might your balloon look like?
·    Where might it take you?
·    How does it work?

These have been some of our key questions fuelling our discussion, writing and independent time.

We have been experimenting with hot and cold air to see how a hot air balloon works. When we put an empty bottle in cold water the air stayed in the bottle. However when we put the bottle in hot water, the air inside warmed up and rose to the top and began to inflate the balloon. If we squeezed the balloon gently, we could feel the air inside!

Rec Bishop Up, up and away!

Up, up and away!

As we travel towards the end of our
How Will We Get There?
topic our role play will be changing every week.

This week we are jetting off from Fosse Way Airport on Bishop Air flights!

·    Check in

·    Weigh our luggage
·    Get your boarding card
·    Plan your flight path
·    Communicate with air traffic control
·    Find your seat on the plane
·    Listen to the safety talk by the flight assistants

It was Green Group’s job to make clocks so passengers knew their flight time.

Before a flight can take off lots of checks
have to be done.
Knowing the main parts of an
aeroplane is essential!
Dominic wrote his definitions totally independently!

Rec Bishop The Final Frontier

The Final Frontier!

After a frustrating time away from school due to the snow, we have been able to add the finishing touches to our Outer Space work!

This is just amazing!

We used our marble rolling paintings as a background for our cut and stick
rockets and aliens.

Did you know that it is always dark on Mercury?
We found that difficult to understand as Mercury is the closest planet to the sun!

Mrs Bishop was SO proud of all the Blue group as they wrote their facts about planet Earth!

Rec Bishop Leaping to Learn

This Wednesday was the first Leaping to Learn session in Reception.
Once again, thank you for your support.

See you next week!

Rec Bishop World Book Day

Friday 9th March was World Book Day
at Fosse Way.
The challenge this year was to dress up as a word from our favourite book.

You all looked brilliant – thank you for all the hard work on the children’s costumes!
