Last week we were
thinking about Airports. Where are the planes going? What time do they depart
or arrive? What are the parts of an aeroplane called and what are they for?
We made aeroplanes from Duplo, constructing the
different parts; wings, hold, flight deck, wheels and jet engine. The children
even added the pilot and co-pilot.
This week we introduced time telling. Most of us
were good at telling o'clock times and some could tell half past times too!
The children have been applying their maths
knowledge in their Role Play area. Sienna has been writing big numbers on
post-its and stciking them to the globe to show customers how much the flights to that country cost. Leo has
been accepting payments for tickets. Using his understanding of tens and ones,
he has checked that the customer has paid the correct amount of ten p's and one
p's. Great work both of you!
Our carpet area has become flight test zone! The
children have been testing their paper planes to see who's plane can fly the
furthest. The paper folding table has been very popular!
