Mrs Dodge- Water travel - Week 2

Water Travel Week 2

The best part of this week was exploring ice. We had to try to get some creatures and stones out of the ice quickly. Some could use spoons to chip away at the ice, some could use salt, some could use warm water and some could use sugar.
Each time we did this experiment, the warm water won. This was the best because it was warm and melted the ice.

We got a chance to work with a friend to make a boat. We tested the boats using people to see if they would float.

We used playdough to make sea creatures.
Can you recognise the jellyfish, stingray and fish?

RBingham - Land Travel (Week 2)

Land Travel

This week we have been thinking about travelling by train.
We found lots of interesting information about different trains and stations such as the London Underground and the Euro Star.
We also talked about how to stay safe at train stations and near level crossings.
We devised lots of questions about 'The Rocket'.

We based lots of our work around this fantastic story:

You can sing along to the story by clicking the following link:

We used our imaginations to create story maps.

Where would your train stop?

Then we used the train set to make our own Magic Train Ride and used different resources to make the different stations.

We built trains with carriages.

We enjoyed buying train tickets to go on magic train journeys in our role play area.

We found objects longer and shorter than our train picture.

We also measured pictures using cubes. We had to be accurate with our measuring.

Do you like our topic display?
We used a variety of techniques such as cut and stick and also line drawings (of skyscrapers).
