Mrs Dodge - Spring and Easter

Spring and Easter

Over the last 3 days we have focused our learning on Spring and Easter. We have listened to the Easter story and now understand why Christians celebrate it. We have designed Easter eggs with symmetrical patterns, ordered eggs with numbers, made egg repeating patterns and been on an Easter egg hunt.

We have been on a Spring walk to look for signs of spring. We thought about our senses and what we can see, hear, smell and taste at Spring time. We have learnt about the life cycle of a hen, but I wonder what came first!?

NURSERY

We have been very busy over the past few days in Nursery. Having read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, we talked about what seeds and plants need to grow big and strong. We have all planted a sunflower which is coming home over the next couple of days. We would really love it if you looked after the seed and kept checking for signs of growth. Photographs of the growing sunflower would be much appreciated!

We have also been busy developing our fine motor skills with Finger Gym.

As you can see we have been threading, screwing nuts and bolts, placing buttons and even trying to unlock padlocks!

Mrs Dodge - The Three Billy Goats Gruff

 The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Who’s that trip-trapping across my bridge?
That’s right.... the three billy goats gruff.

This week we have loved building bridges to help them cross the river, written adjectives to describe the troll, looked at animal foot prints, ordered objects by size, made a story map and made a trap to catch the troll.

We also investigated different materials to make a bridge from.

Our science investigation: Testing materials to make a bridge. Our materials held up the goat, but were too flexible and the bridge collapsed. We found some stronger materials in the classroom.
