Reception - Teams for Sports Day

Last week Reception enjoyed competing against each other across all three classes. The results of the races help to make sure teams are balanced for Sports Day. First they had a running race, then they had a skipping race. It was a lot of fun!

The Royal Wedding

What a  lovely day we had on Friday learning all about and celebrating the Royal Wedding.  We looked at clips from Prince William and Kate’s wedding, made crowns and tiaras, designed our own wedding dresses, got dressed up in our poshest frocks and even got married! To finish the day we made jam tarts and had a lovely garden tea party outside to celebrate!

We hope you all enjoyed watching the wedding over the weekend and I would love to see any photos if you did anything special to celebrate.

Nursery Bakery

As part of our high street topic Nursery have loved learning all about a bakery. They loved our real life bakery role-play where they could go in and make real cakes. One of our focus’ over the last two weeks has been number and we have done so much work counting in relation to baking. We have been counting sweets on top of cakes, chocolate chips in cookies, candles on birthday cakes and much much more. I have been so impressed with the children’s number learning, they are working so hard, well done Nursery!

As the weeks progressed children became more and more confident when baking cakes independently, one group decided they wanted to see what would happen if they added different ingredients into theirs cakes, the apple cakes they made were a huge success whereas the marshmallow ones didn't quite work!

We also set up an icing station, the children independently mixed their own icing and iced their cakes, they then had to use their good counting skills to (only) add 3 marshmallows on top!

I would love to see any baking photos from home using their new found baking skills!
