Vanarama National League Cup

We were very excited today to have the opportunity to see and have our photo taken with the Vanarama National League Cup.

A special mention has to go to Finley who must be Lincoln City's youngest number 1 fan at Fosse Way Academy!  Each week he comes in knowing who Lincoln have played, the score and who has scored...much more than me!

Even the staff got to hold it, we couldn't believe how heavy it was!

Making milkshakes

This week we have been looking at some of the food we can get from a farm.  We looked at how the milk gets from the farm to the shops,  once we had learnt about this we decided to use some yummy milk to make some delicious milkshakes.  We even tasted some goats milk to see how different it was to cows milk.

Whats your favourite milkshake flavour?

Green fingers

This week we have started planting our vegetable patch.  Yesterday we started by planting onions, the children helped dig the rows and then they each put an onion in.  We can't wait for them to start to grow.

I wonder what we will grow next!

Celebrations

Today we have three children to celebrate!

Firstly,  our two dancers Phoebe and Francis who both passed their first dance exam with a distinction, wow well done girls! They told us all about their dance to Humpty Dumpty and we even got a little demo!

Our next celebration is Oliver, he earned his certificate for swimming in his pyjamas.  He told us that is was very tricky and apparently the hardest part was having to swim without his goggles.  Well done Oliver.

I love seeing all your achievements and celebrating them with you so don't forget to bring them in.

Man on the Moon

We really enjoyed reading
Man on the Moon.

Bob is employed to look after the moon.

He keeps the moon clean and tidy and shows space tourists around.

Bob is sure there are no such
thing as aliens!

If you look carefully at the illustrations you might disagree!

Our blow painting aliens are amazing!

Planet Facts

As our Explorers topic continues we are learning lots of new skills.

This week we wrote planet
fact files.

What do you know about

Neptune and Mercury?

Our work is just out of this world!

We have had another really busy week in Reception.

Our painting, drawing and cutting and sticking is just out of this world.

Woodside Falconry and Wildlife Park

We had a great day out at the Wildlife Park. We were greeted by a bright macaw parrot. Along our travels, with our guide, we found other interesting birds too; owls, hawks and cockatoos.

At the reptile show, we held a snake and stoked a bearded dragon and a blue tongue skink. Some of the children were a little bit unsure about touching these strange animals but they were really brave and had a go.

We were lucky to watch the tigers and wolves at dinner time. The keeper fed the tiger its meat with long tongs and threw the wolves meat over the walls. The clever wolves caught the meat before it reached the floor!

We enjoyed the Amazing Animal Show were we saw all kinds of strange, exotic animals and a rescued fox.

Blue group are out of this world

We have had a really busy week in Reception so, blue group are the only group that managed to have an afternoon session in our
Mission Control role play.

Watch this space as we continue on

our outer space adventure!

Our Trip to Woodside Wildlife Park

We had a great time on our school trip.
We learnt lots of amazing things from our guide. We had the opportunity to...
· watch a rescued fox in the Amazing Animal show - finding food in all sorts of places!
· bravely hold a snake, blue tongued skink and bearded dragon during the Reptile Show
· admire the many birds of prey in their habitats - the owls were a firm favourite!
· see Julia the tiger being fed - we were all amazed at just how big she really was!
· hear about how and why wolves live in packs

 · wonder through the tropical house in the hopes of spotting Sid the sloth

White Post Farm

What a wonderful two days we had exploring the farm. We saw so many animals and learnt lots of new things!

The children's behaviour was impeccable, they did Fosse Way Academy and Mrs Jarrett proud!

Here are a few pictures from our day, more to follow when we have sifted through the 100's we took!

Thank you again to all the parents that came to help us, we wouldn't be able to take the children on trips without your continued support so thank you.
