Request for bottle and containers

As we set off on our 'How will we get there?' topic,
we would like to make boats and submarines of our own.
So… please could you wash and send in any plastic containers – yogurt pots, margarine tubs,
lemonade bottles etc.
Thank you for you continued support.

Mrs Bishop

(I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and you are rested up and ready for school on Wednesday!)

Everyone had a fab time and I was really proud of how all the children behaved!

Here are some pictures of the fab dancing!

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Have a wonderful Christmas and we can't wait to see you all back in January with the addition of our new starters!

Santa run 🎅🏼

When Edith's Mum emailed these photos of Edith I just had to share them! Today Edith completed her first ever Santa run with her Daddy! She ran the whole way and even though she was soaked she didn't give up!

What wonderful determination and dedication!

Well done Edith!

We can't wait to see your medal tomorrow!

This weeks sound...

Making bread

This week we have been reading the story The Little Red Hen, we have really enjoyed retelling the story and talking about the characters.

We decided we would like to be like the little red hen and make some of our own bread, but unlike the animals in the story we were kind and helped each other.
It was lots of fun making the bread and it smelt delicious!

I hope you all enjoyed eating it at home.

Autumn Fun!

Autumn is…

As part of our Outdoor Learning with
Mrs Bulleyment we went searching for signs of autumn. The leaves had changed colour and were falling off the trees as well as the weather being much cooler.

Whilst finding out about Autumn we looked at some of Andy Goldsworthy’s artwork.
Then we had a go ourselves.
We have also been reading a lot of Percy the Park Keeper books - Autumn is a really busy time for Percy.

In the role play we have been writing lists of animals and jobs lists for Percy.

In addition to this we had a multi-link challenge.
How many different things could we make for Percy’s park just using 5 cubes?

Look at all the wonderful animals that live in Percy’s park!
We had to work closely as a team to cut and stick these brilliant animals.
Mrs Bishop was really proud of all of us!

Be Bright, Be Seen Poster Competition

We are challenging you to design a bright,
eye-catching poster to teach other children to stay safe near roads, in the dark.

Hand your poster to your teacher by
Friday 1st December.

Winning entries will be announced in an assembly and displayed around school and on our Twitter account.

Can you go on a shape hunt at home and send me some pictures of he shapes you can see at home?

Have a lovely weekend!

Autumn Changes

Last week we had a great time exploring all things Autumn. We learnt how the weather changes, where some of the birds go when it gets cold and what hibernation means. Here is a few of the things we got up to...

Joseph, Brody and Archie designed their own parks. They used their phonic fingers to add labels and sound out letters and words. They look fantastic!

In maths, the children were collecting and counting conkers and working out some mathematical problems. How many do you have? How many would you have if you found 1 or 2 more? How many would you have if a cheeky squirrel took 1 or 2 away? If you have 5 conkers, how many more do you need to make 7?

Who will help me make some bread?

This week we have learning about Harvest and the story of the
Little Red Hen.

We have been doing lots of exciting activities.

Do you know the story of the Little Red Hen?
We do!
You could use our story maps to find out the main events in the story.

Mrs Laidler very kindly helped us make bread,
just like the Little Red Hen.

We have done some more
observational drawing.
This time we were looking at the
inside of fruit.

Using the Lego we made sure all the farm animals were safely in fields.
After that we wrote labels - we had to think carefully about the different sounds we could hear in the names of the animals.

Mrs Bishop was really proud of Leah and Imogen. Their shopping lists were brilliant - great use of your phonics fingers girls!
